No Filipino Included in Latest Quarantine in Hong Kong

PR-270-09, 14 May  2009 -Diplomats from foreign missions in Ireland came to the Philippine Embassy in Dublin to sign the condolence book on the death of former President Corazon C. Aquino.

The Ambassadors from the United States, China, Finland, India, Japan, Korea, Belgium and Charge d'affaires, a.i. of United Kingdom, Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Malta, Morocco, Sweden, Ukraine, were among the first to sign the condolence book.

US Ambassador Dan Rooney wrote in his message to the Aquino family: "It is with sadness that I come to this historic occasion. She came to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for school at Carlow College. One of my daughters graduated from there - Our prayers are with you. God bless."

Members of the Filipino community were also among those who signed the condolence book opened by the Embassy. Heide Palabrica, a Filipino residing in Co. Kildare, was moved to see diplomats from many countries sympathizing with the Filipinos and acknowledging the impact and significance of the late President to the world.

President of Ireland Mary McAleese conveyed her condolences through Philippine Ambassador Ariel Y. Abadilla and will be sending her Aide-de-camp Captain Brian Walsh to officially represent her at the Memorial Mass for the late President Aquino to be held at the Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church in Dublin on August 8 at 10 a.m. END
