30 July 2010 - The Philippine Embassy in Moscow hosted an ASEAN Volleyball Tournament on July 3, led by Philippine Ambassador Victor G. Garcia III and his wife Connie.
The event was held at the Bauman Sports Complex, and was part of the festivities commemorating ASEAN's 43rd Anniversary.
About 60 players composed of Embassy officials, staff and their families represented the Embassies of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Separate tournaments for men and women were conducted.
The male players were grouped randomly to form eight teams that bested each other in knockout elimination and semi-final rounds and best-of-three-sets final match.
Meanwhile, the female players formed two teams and competed in a best-of-three match.
As a bonus for the audience, students from Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam also had short exhibition games.
The ASEAN Volleyball Tournament is the second friendly tournament in the series of ASEAN Games hosted by the various ASEAN Embassies in Moscow. END
