9 December 2011- The Philippine Embassy in Beirut reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that it participated in the 10 kilometer fun run of the 2011 Beirut Marathon on November 27, in support of Lebanese charitable organizations.
Both the men and women's event records tumbled at the ninth edition of the BLOM Beirut Marathon. Ethiopian Tariku Jufar clocked 2:11:14 to win the men's title and the women's course record was also broken by Ethiopian Seada Kedir with a time of 2:31:38.More than 32,000 runners from more than 80 countries participated in the full slate of events, which included the marathon, the 10 kilometer and 5 kilometer fun runs.
Ms. Gladys O. Perey and Mr. Edwin Juan A. Batallones, Attachés of the Embassy, together with Ms. Eileen H. Cruz, proudly showed off their 2011 Beirut Marathon medals after finishing the 10 kilometer fun run. END
