3 February 2012 - Officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen attended a banquet to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival on January 17 at the Yeohwa Mandarin Hotel.

The reception, hosted by Vice Mayor Kang Tao and Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) Director General Hong Chenzong, was attended by the three resident Consulates General of the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand and other city officials.

Xiamen_PCG_Celebrates_New_Year_2Before dinner, Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, Consul General Loh Tuck Keat of Singapore and Consul General Jesada Chavarnbhark of Thailand made a courtesy call on Vice Mayor Kang.

The meeting was followed by a banquet, wherein everyone enjoyed song and dance performances by Xiamen FAO, the officers and staff of the three Consulates General, the Consuls General and the evening's hosts, Vice Mayor Kang and FAO DG Hong.

Spring Festival, more commonly known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, is China's equivalent of Christmas.  END
