12 March 2010 - The Philippine Consulate-General in Honolulu reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs on the outcome of the Annual Executive Committee Meeting of the RP-US Mutual Defense Board/Security Engagement Board (MDB/SEB) held in Honolulu on February 24 to 26.

Head of the Philippine delegation Major General Eduardo SL Oban, Jr. expressed his pleasure with the outcomes of the discussions of the meeting.

The Philippine and US delegations reiterated their commitment to continue providing their share in the mutual defense of both countries through military cooperation and security assistance.

The US Delegation was headed by Major General Randolph Alles, Director for Policy and Strategy, US Pacific Command (PACOM).

On February 25, Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Leoncio R. Cardenas hosted a dinner at his official residence for the delegations.

The evening, dubbed "The Night of the Generals", was a welcome break for both delegations as they moved forward in their strategic discussions to achieve key agreements in the areas of maritime security, combating terrorism, mutual defense, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, civil military operations, defense transformation, and peacekeeping operations.

The RP-US MDB/SEB Executive Committee meets every year in Honolulu. The Board reports to the RP-US Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), a permanent body with headquarters in Manila, through the US Military Representative.

Capt. Severino Vicente T. David, AFP Liaison to the USPACOM, coordinated the participation of the Philippine Delegation at the meeting. END
