
14 July 2011-The Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) held a contract signing with nine college students who will be provided scholarships under the foundation last July 5 at the DFALF office.
Present during the contract signing were members of the DFALF Board of Trustees and its Executive Officers, led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Margaret Gretchen V. Del Rosario. DFALF Board of Trustees Member Ambassador Julia F. Heidemann, DFALF President Maria Rowena M. Sanchez, DFALF Vice President and Scholarship Committee Head Cecilia B. Rebong, and DFALF Vice President Blesila F. Cabrera witnessed the contract-signing.Also present were the new DFALF scholars and their parents and guardians.
For this year, the DFALF granted a total of PhP200,000 to be distributed over a period of four years. The nine scholars for school year 2011-2012 are: Sigrid Faye D. Abadilla, Teodolfo O. Bautista, Richard Idol A. Calderon, Juan Paulo R. Coronel, Erika Claire G. Gomez, Mark Anthony N. Ros, Bereniza Mae P. Samonte, Trish Jenifer T. Siasoco, and Aaron Paul T. Tila-On.
Yearly, the DFALF grants scholarships to deserving children of DFA personnel. While family background, personality and academic performance are used as bases for granting scholarships, financial standing remains the primary consideration for the granting of scholarships.
The DFALF is a non-profit organization which primarily develops and promotes unity, camaraderie, and esprit d'corps among DFA female officers and employees and their spouses, daughters, mothers or sisters through socio-cultural, charitable, and other worthwhile activities.
Throughout the years, the organization has provided scholarships to qualified beneficiaries and given financial assistance to members during illness, calamities and/or bereavement. The foundation has hosted educational seminars as well as sponsored Department projects such as the Day Care Center and DFA Fitness Center.
