01 February 2012 - In line with the Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA) thrust to extend consular services to a wider spectrum of applicants throughout the whole archipelago, the DFA Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) conducted the first ever Mobile Electronic Passport (ePassport) Service in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on January 21.

The Mobile Passport Service Team, which is composed of 18 personnel headed by Mr. Ramon Perez, was welcomed by Mayor Eduardo B. Gardiano who also provided the services of his staff to assist in the processing of the applicants' passports.

The Mobile Passport Team accommodated more than 500 applicants who are natives of Sablayan, including some applicants coming from neighboring municipalities.

Sablayan is the central town of mainland Occidental Mindoro province.  It is about 91 kilometers away from Mamburao, the provincial capital, and 73 kilometers away from San Jose, the most developed town of the province.  END
