RP, Pakistan Vow Closer Cooperation in Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals

17 March 2010 - The Philippines and Pakistan reaffirmed the importance of further broadening cooperation and strengthening collaboration in the fields of agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

Meeting at the sidelines of Special Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting (SNAMMM) on Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace and Development, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabada Malik Ahmad Khan recognized the "positive direction" for Philippine-Pakistan partnership and identified areas for closer cooperation.

"We are pleased at how our relations are moving forward," Secretary Romulo said after the meeting.

"There are certainly areas that we can look into for greater collaboration," he added.

At the meeting, Minister Khan informed Secretary Romulo about the inroads gained by Pakistan in strengthening its rice production as well as the advancements in the pharmaceuticals industry.

"As we work for greater peace in our region, we are happy to work even closer with Pakistan on mutually beneficial endeavours," Secretary Romulo stressed. END
