20 November 2013 – Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Evan P. Garcia met with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski at the sidelines of the 11th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on  November 11 and 12 in New Delhi, highlighting the 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both officials agreed that the re-opening of the Polish Embassy in Manila will increase exchanges of visits and bilateral cooperation in trade, culture and tourism.  A Polish delegation carried out preliminary talks in Manila last week on the re-opening of the embassy and the establishment of the Philippines-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The increase of Polish presence in the Philippines is foreseen with the upcoming visits of Higher Education officials and Members of Parliament.  Former Polish President Lech Walesa conducted a series of lectures in different Philippine cities and called on President Benigno S. Aquino III in November 2012. END
