29 January 2014 – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular, Parliament, and Iranian Affairs Abroad Hassan Ghashghavi will meet withForeign Affairs Undersecretary for Administration Rafael E. Seguis for the 5th Philippines-Iran Joint Consular Consultation Meeting (JCCM), which will be held in Manila from January 29 to 30.

The JCCM is held between the two countries to promote closer cooperation and to strengthen bilateral ties through discussions on consular access, immigration-related concerns, and passport and visa matters.

The JCCM provides a venue for the exchange of views not only on consular issues, but also on broader cooperation to facilitate people-to-people exchange. In particular, the JCCM will kick off activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Iran.

Bilateral relations between the two countries were established on 22 January 1964. END
