DFA Consular Office in Zamboanga Celebrates PH Independence Day
ZAMBOANGA 17 June 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in Zamboanga City celebrated the 122nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence with the theme “Kalayaan 2020: Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbabayanihan at Ligtas” by conducting a flag-raising ceremony inside the office on 11 June 2020.
The event commenced with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by the reading of the Independence Day messages of Philippine President Rodrigo R. Duterte and Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. by Officer-In-Charge Maria Annette F. Aquino-Herrera and Administrative Officer Janice Q. Llanda, respectively.
Filipino-themed decorations were prominently displayed in the office to capture the Philippine Independence Day celebration.
After the program, Consular personnel enjoyed a simple breakfast over traditional Filipino meals such as “tapsilog” and “puto” made in the colors of the national flag. END
