DFA Consular Office in La Union Celebrates its 35th Founding Anniversary

LA UNION 23 June 2020 – With much appreciation and gratitude, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in La Union celebrated its 35th Founding Anniversary at its office in Manna Mall, City of San Fernando, La Union on 18 June 2020.

The Consular Office in La Union was established on 18 June 1985 under the initiative and leadership of the late former Governor of the Province of La Union Joaquin “Titing” Ortega. It was launched as the 4th Regional Consular Office after Cebu, Zamboanga, and Davao. The Consular Office extends passport services, Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) services to our migrants, particularly to our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and other consular services. Since 1985, its delivery of services has improved and became more convenient to its clients.

During the celebration, Consular Office in La Union’s Officer-in-Charge Grace M. Bañez extended her appreciation and gratitude for the constant support and guidance of the Department, as well as the achievements and contributions of its officers and staff who continuously serve the local constituents of La Union and nearby provinces and cities with professionalism, dedication and excellence.

With the re-opening of this Consular Office under the “new normal” in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and as part of the celebration, free pocket-sized alcohols were distributed to the passport applicants.

The celebration concluded with a simple breakfast prepared by this Consular Office’s personnel. END
