DFA Consular Office in La Union Participates in the Inter-Agency Task Force Regional Meeting Against COVID-19

Status of COVID-19 pandemic in Region-1 as presented by DOH

LA UNION 20 July 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office in La Union participated in the Region 1 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) and Regional Task Force-1 Against COVID-19 meeting held at the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office-1, City of San Fernando, La Union on 16 July 2020. Online teleconference via Cisco Webex was utilized by those who cannot physically attend the meeting.

Officer-in-Charge Grace M. Bañez and Information Officer Christian Kelvin C. Gonzales of the Consular Office attended the meeting online.

DOH and IATF discussed the COVID-19 updates in the region including the Operational Guidelines on the Application of the Zoning Containment Strategy in the Localization of the National Action Plan against COVID-19 Response. The Regional Task Force also presented its action plan and the COVID-19 Special Team Report. The body also discussed the situation of the Region wide/ Inter-province Travel for Tourism.

The activity’s highlight was the presentation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan for Region 1 as discussed by DEPED Regional Director Tolentino Aquino. Director Aquino cited the details of the said plan in which include implementation of various learning modalities for basic education in the region, such as, modular, online and offline learning, and use of TV and radio.
