 Tacloban NDPRW 1

TACLOBAN 23 July 2020 — The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in Tacloban conducted activities in celebration of the 42nd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on 20 July 2020.

The celebration was attended by the consular staff on skeleton workforce and eight work-from-home personnel through a virtual platform. The program began with a prayer and a flag ceremony, followed by the recitation of Panata ng Isang Tagapagtaguyod to express commitment as advocates of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

CO Tacloban conducted sessions on basic Filipino Sign Language (expressions, greetings, questions, alphabet) that the personnel may use to communicate with consular clients as needed.

CO Tacloban also showed video presentations on Filipino Sign Language and on Project Inclusion, a program that has worked to improve access to work opportunities for Persons with Disabilities,  which featured the inspiring stories of two DFA personnel (Ms. Jona Romulo and Mr. Raphael Torralba). Said video presentations aimed to raise public awareness of and disseminate information and advocate Section 5 of RA 10524, allocating at least one percent (1%) of all positions in all government agencies, offices, or corporations to be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

During the celebration, the Consular Office in Tacloban distributed free alcohols and round fans to its consular clients. END
