DFA Consular Office in Tacloban Conducts Blood Donation Drive with PH Red Cross

TACLOBAN 27 July 2020 — In commemoration of its 17th founding anniversary and its unwavering passion to continue serving the public through community engagement and social action, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office in Tacloban, in cooperation with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), led the conduct of a mobile blood donation (MBD) activity on 24 July 2020 at the Robinsons North Tacloban.

CO Tacloban heeded PRC’s call to help save lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic through a blood donation drive with the support of other partner agencies such as Robinsons North Tacloban, Bombo Radyo Philippines and Green Cross Incorporated. The activity also coincided with the celebration of the National Blood Donor’s Month in July of every year.

A total of 53 units of blood have been collected from individual donors and various groups. Among them were LTC Ricnon U. Carolasan CE (GSC) PA, Acting Commanding Officer of Engineer Support Battalion, 53rd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, representatives from Tacloban Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade Association and Department of Agriculture Region 8 as well as eight personnel of CO Tacloban.

The four-hour blood donation drive strictly observed health protocols set by Department of Health throughout the duration of the activity to prevent the risk of COVID-19 transmission. END
