PASAY CITY 28 July 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs was recertified as having management systems in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards. TÜV Nord Philippines, a certifying company, thru Mr. Ian Emmanuel Bumanglag Jr., presented the certificate to Undersecretary for Administration J. Eduardo Malaya, who is also the Department’s Quality Management Representative. With the Undersecretary was Ms. Jeanne April Marie Bruneau, head of the Department’s Quality Management Unit.

The certificate states that “(i)n accordance with TUV Nord Philippines, Inc. procedures, it is hereby certified that Department of Foreign Affairs applies a management system in line with the above standard for the following scope – Provision of Regular Passport and Authentication Services, Diplomatic and Official Passport Service, Visa Application and Assistance to Nationals (Migrant Workers) Walk-In Client.”

The certification was given to the DFA following a Re-certification Audit conducted on December 11-12. Two additional sites were included in the audit scope, namely the Consular Office NCR East (SM Megamall) and Consular Office NCR Northeast (Ali Mall).

ISO certification means that a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure has all the requirements for standardization and quality assurance, following standards set by the International Organization for Standardization, an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems. The ISO standards also require organizations to identify areas for improvement and take action toward those improvements.

“The certification signifies that DFA’s processes and services meet quality standards. This is in line with the Department’s commitment to institutionalize a culture of continual improvement within our ranks, thus ensuring efficient and consistent delivery of services to the public. We thank and commend the Quality Management Unit, the Office of Policy Planning and Coordination, the Internal Audit Service, and other relevant offices for their hard work in having the DFA recertified,” Undersecretary Malaya said.
