DFA Consular Office in Tagum, Davao Region Local Government Units Transported Repatriates from General Santos City Airport

TAGUM CITY 28 July 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in Tagum closely coordinated with the Davao Region Local Government Units in transporting eight of the 51 Filipino fishermen repatriated from Manado, Indonesia to their respective city and municipalities in Davao Oriental and Davao del Norte on 18 July 2020.
On 17 July 2020, Mati City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Mati CDRRMO), headed by Mr. Charlemagne Bagasol, spearheaded the mission in receiving the repatriates at General City Santos Airport (SOCCSKSARGEN Region), which is a five to six-hour drive from Mati City, Davao Oriental. The repatriates underwent thermal screening and basic assessment upon arrival at the airport.
At early dawn of 18 July 2020, one of the repatriates bound for Carmen, Davao del Norte was received by the Carmen Municipal Health Office while four of them bound for Governor Generoso were received by GovGen Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). The remaining two repatriates were transported to Mati City.
The Consular Office in Tagum’s Assistance-to-Nationals Officers Mr. Adrian Rey Grumo and Ms. Sache Cazzandra Cuyos closely monitored the transport of the repatriates together with the Local Government Units of Mati (Davao Oriental), Governor Generoso (Davao Oriental) and Carmen (Davao del Norte).
The repatriation mission from Manado, Indonesia was brought to fruition through the collaborative efforts of the Philippine Consulate in Manado, Department of National Defense (DND), Armed Forces of the Philippines – Eastern Mindanao Command (AFP-EMC), and the Consular Offices in General Santos and Davao.
