TAGUM 26 August 2020 — In celebration of Buwan ng Wika and Buwan ng Kasaysayan, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Tagum, Davao del Norte, launched a photo exhibit of Philippine national heroes on 19 August 2020 at the entrance area of CO Tagum, Gaisano Mall of Tagum, Davao del Norte. The photo exhibit featured the heroes’ birth details and achievements in commemoration of the National Heroes' Day on 31 August 2020.
During the short program, three poems written by Filipinos were read by CO Tagum personnel. Two of the poems were written by national heroes, Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, and spoke of love for language and the country. The third poem was written mostly in Mandaya (a language widely spoken in some areas in Mindanao) by Filipino artist Danny Sillada.
CO Tagum’s Administrative Officer Marian Nicole Bernadas welcomed the passport applicants and explained the importance of preserving the national language and remembering national heroes through history. She also encouraged everyone to take part in the country's fight against COVID-19 and be modern-day heroes by wearing masks, regular handwashing, and observing physical distancing.
The photo exhibit will run until 28 August 2020. END
