BUTUAN CITY 02 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Butuan showed support for the 2020 Census Population and Housing (CPH) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through its Information and Communication Campaign, done through the display of CPH tarpaulin, posting of the census information on social media, and playing of CPH videos through the office monitor on 13 August 2020. The Consular Office, as a member agency of the Regional Census Coordinating Board, is committed to spreading awareness on the census to the CO’s clients.

The 2020 CPH aims to provide government executives and policymakers the updated data on population and housing, which shall be used as bases for the social and economic development plans, policies, projects, and programs at the national and local levels. The information drive is to help PSA reach the public and encourage them to cooperate on data collection.

The PSA also assured that the process will follow physical distancing and other protocols in line with COVID-19 preventive measures. The data collection was initially scheduled last May 2020 but was postponed to September 2020 due to the pandemic. END
