DFA Consular Office in La Union Participates in 3rd Quarter CY 2020 Regional Development Council (RDC)-1 Full Council Meeting

LA UNION 03 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in La Union participated in the 3rd Quarter CY 2020 Regional Development Council (RDC)-1 Full Council Meeting held at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office 1, City of San Fernando, La Union on 26 August 2020.
Video conference via Zoom was also made available for those unable to physically attend. Information Officer Christian Kelvin C. Gonzales of the Consular Office attended the meeting online.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office (RO)-1 Director James F. Fadrilan presented the governance sector’s proposal, called “Enjoining All Local Government Units (LGUs), to adopt the Best Practice of Ilocos Norte on the Mandatory COVID-19 Testing of Persons Deprived of Liberty before Commitment to Jails or Prior to Release from Provincial Jails and from the facilities of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).”
Other resolutions such as the endorsement of the proposed creation of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Office for the Province of La Union, Learning Continuity Plan of the Department of Education (DepEd), technology-based solutions/inventions from publicly funded researches and development, and other agenda items were also discussed in the meeting.
Furthermore, RDC-1 Chairperson and City Mayor of Vigan, Ilocos Sur Juan Carlos S. Medina delivered the State of the Region Address (SORA) 2019.
The RDC-1 also awarded and recognized CY 2019 Best Project Implementer, Most Outstanding Project Monitors, and Parangal Awards for former RDC-1 members.
The meeting was graced by National Security Adviser and Director General Hermogenes C. Esperon, Jr. and Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon Raul Lambino. END
