DFA Consular Office in Tacloban Participates in One-Stop Shop Center for OFWs (OSSCO) Virtual Meeting

TACLOBAN 26 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Tacloban participated in the One-Stop Shop Center for OFWs (OSSCO) Virtual Meeting on 23 September 2020 via the Zoom platform.

Spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII (DOLE RO8) Regional Director Yahya A. Centi, the conference was attended by the OSSCO member agencies, namely: Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), DFA, Social Security System (SSS), PAG-IBIG, PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The Consular Office was represented by its Consular Supervisor Roxanne P. Blones.

Joined by no less than the POEA Administrator Undersecretary Bernard Olalia, the meeting discussed theproposed transfer of the One-Stop Shop Center for OFWs (OSSCO) to the new POEA Office at Uytingko Bldg. Tacloban City. Reassessment of OSSCO operations in Region VIII and consultation with the partner agencies transpired.

The Consular Office in Tacloban affirmed its commitment to extend services to ensure the success of OSSCO in Region VIII. The Consular Office emphasized that fast and efficient services are given to OFWs that are accommodated at consular offices, which has been made possible by the implementation of the Courtesy Lane Facility that covers OFWs.
