DFA Consular Office in General Santos City Joins the 2020 Regional Development Council Day Celebration via Zoom

GENERAL SANTOS CITY 09 October 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in General Santos actively participated in the virtual celebration of the annual Regional Development Council (RDC) Day on 06 October 2020.

Highlighting the theme, “Recovering as One, Developing as One, Caring and Healing as One", the full-day online event on Zoom hosted a series of talks about health and wellness and the significance of Filipino values and culture in economic recovery and growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) National Study on Filipino Values and Its Relevance in the Time of the Pandemic was presented by the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology to give an update on the different core and sectoral values of Filipinos at present.

An open forum was also participated in by various NGAs, LGUs, and private stakeholders in Region XII to discuss regional development in the midst of the crisis.

In his keynote speech, TESDA Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña, Ph.D., CSEE encouraged the public and private sectors to generate opportunities from the current situation, and execute their respective mandates with a positive outlook. RDC Chairperson Ronnel Chua Rivera also hoped that through united efforts, Region XII will rise above the pandemic. END
