Tacloban UN Anniv 1

TACLOBAN CITY 29 October 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Tacloban marked the 75th founding anniversary of the United Nations (UN) this year with an online discussion on 23 October 2020.

The event was held via Google Meet, organized by Ms. Karen Jane P. Zurita and attended by both on-duty and work-from-home (WFH) CO staff. It commenced with a video presentation of the brief history of the creation of the UN and proceeded with the organization’s structure and notable works for peace and security, socio-economic welfare, and health and education access in disadvantaged countries all over the world.

The activity was designed to highlight the relevance of our nation’s membership to the prestigious organization as well as the need for strong cooperation among nations as we face a global health crisis. The presentation sought to bring consciousness among CO’s staff, particularly the importance of diplomacy in international relations, a highly relevant topic for consular staff working for the Department who is at the forefront in maintaining diplomatic relations to other nations.

The activity affirms CO’s commitment for continuous staff learning and growth amid all the constraints brought by the current pandemic. END
