PH Advocates for Rights of the Child in a Special Meeting of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights
Foreign Affairs Executive Director of ASEAN Affairs and Alternate Temporary AICHR Representative Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio heads Philippine delegation to the Special Meeting of the AICHR.
PASAY CITY 01 December 2020– The Philippines advocated for the Rights of the Child by calling on the support of external partners in the implementation of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework at a Special Meeting of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) on 24 to 25 November 2020.
The two-day meeting discussed progress on ongoing priority programmes and activities in the areas of business, children’s rights, right to health, right to education, human rights and countering extreme violence, and rights of migrant workers; as well as the draft Guidelines on AICHR’s External Relations. AICHR met with the United Nations system agencies, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to discuss areas for future cooperation.
In addition to the United Nations, the Philippines participated in AICHR meetings with the European Union, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Switzerland.
