PASAY CITY 12 January 2021 - The Most Reverend Archbishop Charles John Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. on 08 January 2021, following his Presentation of Credentials to the President at the Malacañang Palace on 14 December 2020.

Secretary Locsin recognized the instrumental role of Pope Francis in bringing the international community together in support of the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration and underscored President Duterte’s call for climate justice during the 37th ASEAN Summit, adding his voice to Pope Francis’ plea to save the planet as stewards of creation. Archbishop Brown, on the other hand, highlighted the important contributions of the Filipino community worldwide and the need for justice for migrants in every sector.

Both affirmed commitment to closely working together on shared advocacies in migration and climate change and in the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the introduction of Christianity in the Philippines and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Holy See.
