SFA Locsin Meets Virtually and UK Minister of State for Asia 1

PASAY CITY 25 MARCH 2021 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. met with United Kingdom Minister of State for Asia Nigel Adams virtually on 23 March 2021, where they apprised each other of the current situation of the pandemic in their respective countries and how both governments were progressing with the vaccination of their populations. Minister Adams offered to share information with Secretary Locsin on the United Kingdom’s successful vaccination of more than 1 million people to date. 

Secretary Locsin and Minister Adams also discussed other aspects of Philippines-United Kingdom bilateral relations, such as the possibility of sending more Filipino healthcare workers to the United Kingdom, the current situation in the West Philippine Sea, and the progress in implementing the United Nations (UN) Joint Program.

They also delved on regional issues, primarily the situation in Myanmar and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-United Kingdom relations.

Both sides committed to further strengthening their collaboration and cooperation in various areas of mutual interest as they mark the start of the year-long celebration of the 75 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United Kingdom. END
