9 July 2013 – The ten delegates of the Filipino-American Youth Leadership Program (FYLPro) met with Senator Teofisto Guingona III and Senator Francis Escudero (top photo, 5th and 7th from left) at the Senate Complex in Pasay City on July 08. The “dialogue” with the young senators was part of the three-day immersive program especially designed towards giving the delegates a better appreciation of the Philippines.
The FYLPro delegates gained more insight on Philippine legislation and politics in their dialogue with the young senators. Senator Escudero exhorted the delegates to “keep asking questions and to stay involved.” Senator Guingona, on the other hand, remarked that the FYLPro is a laudable project in terms of maintaining our strong ties with the United States.
