14 June 2014 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario received Armenia’s Non-resident Ambassador to the Philippines Raisa Vardanyan on June 11 at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Secretary del Rosario and Ambassador Vardanyan discussed promotion of bilateral relations in various areas, including in trade and investments, education, and people-to-people contacts. Both officials agreed to convene the first bilateral political consultations between their foreign ministries at a mutually convenient date in the near future. 

Secretary del Rosario took the opportunity to congratulate Ambassador Vardanyan on her presentation of credentials to President Benigno S. Aquino III on June 10 at the Malacañan Palace.

Ambassador Vardanyan extended the invitation of Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian to Secretary del Rosario to visit Armenia.

Ambassador Vardanyan, who is visiting the Philippines for the first time, is based in Hanoi, Viet Nam. Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Armenia were established on 20 May 1992. END
