21 July 2014 – The Department of Foreign Affairs Regional Consular Office in Cagayan de Oro was formally declared “open for business” in partnership with Ayala Land Inc. during its inauguration on July 17.

 

DFA Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns Rafael E. Seguis led the inauguration  of the new DFA Cagayan de Oro in its new home at Centrio Mall. It is the 16th mall-based DFA Regional Consular Office (RCO) in the country.

 

The new RCO is located at the third floor of Centrio Mall, an integrated mixed-use complex composed of a shopping mall, a hotel, a BPO/office building and a condominium tower in the heart of Cagayan de Oro City.

 

DFA Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Wilfredo C. Santos and Operations Manager of Centrio Mall, Ms. Pamela Mendez, also attended the inauguration. Top local officials present during the event included Congressman Rufus Rodriguez of 2nd District Cagayan de Oro City and Governor Yevgeny Vicente (Bambi) Emano of Misamis Oriental.

 

In his message, Undersecretary Seguis said that the transfer of DFA Cagayan de Oro to Centrio Mall “is a testament to the Department’s goal of providing quality and dedicated consular service to the people in Cagayan de Oro and neighboring provinces and regions.”

 

 

DFA Cagayan de Oro is currently headed by Abdurraheym “Pepe” Macud, a career foreign service staff officer.  The DFA Office renders consular services to the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte. It is open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every Saturday. END
