14 August 2014 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario  led the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA)  annual commemoration of Eid’l Fitr by hosting a reception today to celebrate this most auspicious Muslim festival  with members of the Diplomatic Corps, prominent Muslim and other government officials, leaders of the Muslim community, retired Muslim Ambassadors, members of the DFA Filipino Muslim Association and members of the media attending the event.

 “It is through our celebration of Eid’l Fitr that we recognize and honor the Islamic heritage of the Philippines and its considerable role in our country’s history and in molding Filipino culture and tradition,” Secretary del Rosario said during his speech at the reception.


The DFA commemorates Eid’l Fitr by annually hosting a reception to celebrate the important Muslim holiday with the Office of Middle East and African Affairs organizing the event. The reception was held at the Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini of the DFA Main Building in Pasay City.

Eid’l Fitr is a Muslim holiday which marks a time of joy, celebration and  deep appreciation for the blessings of the Almighty. It comes after fasting and abstention during the Holy Month of Ramadan. END
