18 November 2014 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will be launching Pagkain, a Philippine Food Exhibit on December 01, 5:00 p.m. at the Main Lobby of the DFA Main Building in Pasay City. Pagkain is based on the book “Kulinarya: A Guidebook to Philippine Cuisine.”

The exhibit, annotated by writer Michaela Fenix and visually presented by photographer Neal Oshima, introduces the audience to Filipino food, traces the influences that have helped shape our cuisine, and celebrates quintessential Filipino cooking.

Pagkain is part of the series of traveling exhibits on Philippine culture being developed jointly by DFA and NCCA for implementation in our seven (7) Philippine Foreign Service Posts in China. The traveling exhibits showcase Philippine society and culture in China to inspire and build greater mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Pagkain will be launched by the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai at the Renaissance Shanghai Yangtze Hotel today, November 18.

The exhibit launch in Manila is an opportunity to share with the Philippine audience our efforts to promote understanding and appreciation of Filipino cuisine, an integral part of Philippine public diplomacy abroad.
