08 August 2013- Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario awarded on Wednesday, August 07, the winners of the ASEAN Painting Contest during the ASEAN Day commemorative celebration at the National Museum.
The top three winners are:
· Mr. Chistian Joy Trinidad, 1st Place Winner with the entry “Fast to the Future”;
· Mr. John Magne Lisondra, 2nd Place Winner with the entry “One for All, All for One”, and
· Mr. Lance Kirby Yaneza, 3rd Place Winner with theentry, “Tomorrow, United As One”.
The winners were awarded certificates of artistic excellence and cash prizes in the amount of P50,000, P35,000 and P25,000 for the first, second and third place winners, respectively.
The Secretary was assisted by Mr. Felipe de Leon, Jr., Chair of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts, and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ASEAN Affairs Assistant Secretary and Director-General of ASEAN-Philippines Teresita V.G. Barsana.
The nationwide painting competition generated interest from more than 50 artists.
A three-step selection process by a panel of judges consisting of Mr. Jose Ma. Carino, Head of the Cultural Diplomacy Unit of the DFA, Mr. Cid Reyes, writer and art critic, and Mr. Noell El Farol, painter/sculptor.
The paintings of the12 finalists were on display at the ASEAN Day celebration and will also be exhibited in various public venues in Metro Manila.
The ASEAN Painting Contest is part of the commemorative activities to celebrate the 46th Anniversary of ASEAN.
Celebrated annually, ASEAN Day highlights ASEAN’s many achievements across the political-security, economic and socio-cultural communities and helps generate awareness among the peoples of ASEAN. END
