15 August 2013 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario hosted the annual Eidl Fitr reception today to celebrate the event with Department of Foreign Eid3Affairs (DFA) Muslim employees and the larger Islamic community.

The reception was held at the Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini of the DFA Main Building in Pasay City.

“As we celebrate Eidl Fitr, we show respect for the Muslim heritage of the Philippines. As a country known for its great diversity, the Philippines continues to be at the forefront in promoting interfaith dialogue to foster mutual understanding and harmony across different cultures and religions,” Secretary del Rosario said during his speech at the reception.

The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, prominent Muslim and other government officials, leaders of the Muslim community, retired Muslim Ambassadors, members of the DFA Filipino Muslim Association and members of the media.

The DFA traditionally hosts an Eidl Fitr reception to celebrate the important Muslim holiday with its Muslim personnel and to keep with its tradition of expressing solidarity and brotherhood with the larger Muslim community.

Eidl Fitr is a Muslim holiday that celebrates the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. END
