SFA-Bahrain

1 October 2013 – The Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain are seeking more avenues for greater collaboration and cooperation in bilateral and multilateral settings, particularly in regional and inter-regional organizations.

During a meeting held at the sidelines of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 29, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario and Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain both stressed the “valuable relations” between the Philippines and Bahrain and the need to “further deepen and broaden relations in bilateral and multilateral settings.”

At the meeting, Minister Al-Khalifa extended the invitation to Secretary del Rosario to the 12th Asian Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting and the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial Meeting, both of which will be held in Manama in November.

The two meetings were described as “important in moving forward the shared interests of the Philippines and Bahrain in trade and investment, economic and developmental cooperation and tourism.

The 12th Asian Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Manama will consider a draft declaration on promoting “Intra-Asian Tourism.”

The ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial Meeting will discuss ways of moving relations between the two regions to a “higher level” in such areas as trade and investment.  END
