PHL Embassy in Tokyo Celebrates 50th ASEAN Day

11 August 2017 TOKYO — Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V led the Embassy personnel in simple rites to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN on 08 August 2017 at the Embassy lobby. Embassy personnel sang the Lupang Hinirang followed by the ASEAN Hymm. Consul Kristine Margret M. Malang, Cultural Officer, read the message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The simple ceremonies ended with the message of Ambassador Laurel who cited the history of ASEAN which made and shaped the regional association into the ASEAN of today.
Ambassador Laurel and other Embassy officials also attended the ASEAN 50th Anniversary Symposium entitled, “Reviews on ASEAN’s 50 years Path to the ASEAN Community”, organized by the ASEAN-Japan Center and the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) at Tokyo Prince Hotel.
