The event kicked off with a warm-up exercise led by a Filipino group from the Dance Synergie Fitness Studio. It was followed by games conducted by the MOFAT and some ASEAN Missions. The PHL Embassy, on its part, conducted the “Pukpok Palayok,” a PHL traditional game, to the delight of the participants. Winners were given Cebu Best chocolate mangoes, Polvoron, Curly Tops, an ASEAN@50 Commemorative Coin and an ASEAN@50 baller as prizes.
During the event, ASEAN Missions had booths showcasing tourism attractions and native products. The PHL Embassy’s booth featured a colorful and vibrant jeepney, which also served as a photo booth for the guests. PHL decorative items made of indigenous materials such as capiz, nito, and bamboo, and t’nalak fabrics were also showcased, while the tourism promotion videos from the Department of Tourism were played in loop. Embassy personnel offered for free PHL ice cream (Magnolia and FIC) to those who visited the booth.
The event proved to be a very important gathering as it further developed the camaraderie between the MOFAT and the ASEAN Missions. It was an avenue for Bruneian officials, the Diplomatic Corps, and their families, to experience one another’s cultures through food, games, and products showcased during the event.
The Embassy fully supports ASEAN-related activities hosted by Brunei’s government in view of promoting the Philippine’s ASEAN Chairmanship and the 50th Founding Anniversary of ASEAN this year. END
