Filipino Community Celebrates Christmas in Pamaskong Handog

CHRISTMAS HANDOG KL1

PHL Ambassador Charles Jose delivers his opening remarks to start the program.

19 December 2017 Kuala Lumpur — The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Federation of Filipino Associations in Malaysia (FFAM) jointly organized a Christmas celebration for the Filipino community in Malaysia in a Christmas program dubbed Pamaskong Handog 2017 held at the Amphitheatre of the Kraftangan (Malaysia Craft Complex) in Kuala Lumpur on December 10.

“All of us are familiar with Christmas traditions back home—the cool air, the abundant food, the colorful decorations and the joyful celebrations.  However, we are far away from home, but we hope that we could bring Christmas to all of you through this celebration,” Ambassador Jose said in his remarks.

“Let us not forget the spirit of Christmas, which is the birth of Christ, and let us use this time to thank God for all the blessings we received and for His love,” he added.

The event featured performances from the Filipino community, as St. John’s Tahanang Filipino dancers and chorale, dancers from Kabisig and Filipinos Residing in Malaysia, singers Martin Deduque, Band 360 and Yazmin Aziz, and singer/stand-up comedian Sherwin Calderon entertained members of the Filipino community and Embassy officers and staff who attended the event.

Ambassador Jose and Madame Maria Victoria Jose also rendered heartwarming Filipino Christmas songs, backed up by the Embassy singers and Gladys Gulapa on piano.

Participants also won raffle prizes from sponsors LBC, Philippine Airlines, Smart World, Lucky Money, and the FFAM.  END
