PHOTO: The Philippine Embassy in Athens participated in the 19th International Christmas Bazaar of the Friends of the Child (FOC) Charity Association held at the HELEXPO Maroussi in Athens, Greece on 24 and 25 November 2018.

The Embassy sold food items such as pancit bihon, vegetable spring rolls (lumpia), chicken arroz caldo, pork siomai, buko pandan, coffee, and salabat during the event, as well as handicrafts and various souvenir items.

As the bazaar coincided with the start of the 18-day Campaign To End Violence Against Women (VAW), the Embassy booth was dressed in orange in keeping with the color scheme of this year’s VAW campaign. Orange table cloths and table napkins were used and Embassy staff members manning the booth wore “VAW Free Community Starts With ME” badges. A briefer on the campaign were also distributed to visitors of the Philippine Booth.

A total of 28 embassies and 10 consulates participated in the annual event, most notably, the ASEAN Embassies of Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and the Honorary Consulate of Malaysia.

The bazaar is hosted annually by the FOC to support its kindergarten school in Metaxourgeio, Athens, and other charity projects. (Athens PE photos)
