PH Embassy Announces Inter-School Parol-Making Winners in Myanmar

YANGON 20 December 2018 – In spirit of Philippine Christmas traditions, the Philippine Embassy in Yangon awarded the first prize in the first-ever Inter-School Parol-making Competition to Basic Education High Schools (B.E.H.S.) Dagon in an awarding ceremony held at the Embassy grounds on 07 December 2018.

The parol-making competition was the highlight of the event “Paskong Pinoy” where the Embassy showcased and shared Philippine Christmas traditions with Myanmar students.

B.E.H.S. Botahtaung won second prize and Kamaryut B.E.H.S was awarded third prize.

The parols were judged according to originality of concept, creativity, and over-all impact. The Embassy invited representatives from different Filipino Community organizations in Myanmar such as Pilipinas.Mm and Filipino-Myanmar Spouses Association to help judge the competition.

The event was attended by Grade 5 and 6 students from nine schools namely Bahan International Science Academy, Diplomatic School Yangon, Myanmar International School, Singapore International School, and B.E.H.S. from Dagon, Lanmadaw, Sanchaung, Kamaryut, and Botahtaung townships.

The Embassy personnel also conducted a parol-making workshop and taught parlor games. The evening ended with the students being served Philippine-style spaghetti and fried chicken. END
