Fil-Am Community in Chicago Celebrates Paskuhan Sa Chicago, Simbang Gabi

CHICAGO 20 December 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, in collaboration with 20 community organizations in Chicago, celebrated the first-ever “Paskuhan sa Chicago and Simbang Gabi” at the Market Mix in Seafood City in Chicago on 15 December 2018.

More than 250 individuals attended this year’s Christmas party which kicked off with a parol contest followed by a cultural entertainment program, traditional “salu-salo” around sumptuous Filipino food, singing of Christmas carols, games and door prizes, and capped by a Holy Mass (simbang gabi).

“As we celebrate the Season, we reinvigorate the vibrant cultural heritage of the Philippines and reinforce our sense of community. On behalf of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, we wish you the Blessings of the Season,” Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin said.

Consul General Jamoralin also congratulated the members of the Planning Committee, community leaders, and guests for their commitment and dedication for the success of the event and hoped that it will become a yearly event for the Filipino community in Chicago and Illinois.

The ”Paskuhan sa Chicago” is presented by the Consulate Genereal in partnership with community organizations including Comstock Realty, Divine Mercy Crusade, Filipino American Historical Society in Chicago, Filipino American National Historical Society–Midwest, Filipino American Grandparents Association of Chicago, Filipino Musicians in Chicago, Filipino Young Leaders Program, Gawad Kalinga, Jerry Clarito Group, Joy Dance Club, Knights of Rizal, Ladies for Rizal, National Federation of Filipino American Association–Illinois, Philippine American College of Clergy, Philippine American Cultural Foundation, Philippine Engineers and Scientists Organization, Pilipino American Seniors Association in Chicago, Sama-Sama Project, Trans American Financial Services, Wintrust and Zamboanga Del Norte Association of Illinois.
