PH Takes Part in Christmas Charity Bazaar in Bulgaria

BUDAPEST 26 December 2018 — The Philippine Honorary Consul in Bulgaria and members of the Filipino Community in Bulgaria participated in the 24th Christmas Charity Bazaar of the International Women’s Club’s (IWC) on 02 December 2018 in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.

The Philippine aims to increase interest in the country’s through attractive Filipino-themed decorations and items.

“Continuing the trend from the last few years, we maintained our efforts to use the Christmas Charity Bazaar as an opportunity to promote awareness and interest towards the Philippines. We feel that we have achieved our purpose with this year’s bazaar participation, which was to leave a lasting positive impression and branding of the Philippines to the people of Bulgaria,” Honorary Consul Ognian Trajanov said.

Philippine tourism materials were given out to interested visitors with Filipino volunteers providing additional information and advice to inquiring attendees. The Philippine booth also sold printed t-shirts with Philippine designs as well as Filipino delicacies.

Performances by the Filipino Community were well received. Filipino volunteers danced in their native attire, while two young Filipina sisters Lana and Malaya sang a hip-hop song in Bulgarian, English and Filipino.

The bazaar is one of the biggest charity events in the Balkans, with proceeds going to educational programs, programs for social integration of children, disabled people, women, elderly citizens, and orphaned children. END
