PaSTARan 2018 in HK Showcases Pinoy Creativity and Ingenuity

HONG KONG 25 December 2018 — The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong held the PaSTARan 2018 Lantern-Making Competition on 24 December 2018 at the Chater Garden.

The following Filipino Community organizations emerged as winners of the lantern-making contest: United Nueva Vizcayanos-Hong Kong (grand winner), Samahang Ilocano Kabagis-Hong Kong Chapter (second place), Marinduque Migrant Workers Association (third place), Diwa’t Kabayan Benlife Club (fourth place), and National Organization of Professional Teachers (People’s Choice Award).

The said winners were awarded certificates of participation by Consulate General, as well as cash prizes in the amount of HK$5,000 (PHP 33,650), HK$3,000 (P20,200), HK$2,000 (P13,500), and HK$1,000 (P6,750) for the first, second, third and fourth place winners, respectively, courtesy of LBC Hong Kong.

Deputy Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan led the panel of judges of the lantern competition which consisted of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Officer Virsie B. Tamayao, and Hong Kong Musicians Union Chairman Manuela Lo.

PaSTARan 2018, which served as a fitting front-act to the Misa De Aguinaldo, was held during an entertainment program hosted by Jay Martinez and DJ Jinn of Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited.

The program also featured performances by Rock N’ Play Band, Prime Credit’s Superstar Search Season 4 Grand Winner Joy Carbonell, Reiz Manalo, F.L.A.G. Dancers, One Visayas, and Arnold Pineda. END
