PH Independence Day Celebration Kick-Off Event in Markham City
Consul General Rosalita S. Prospero takes the lead in the flag raising ceremony and delivers a speech at Markham Federation of Filipino Canadians (MFFC)’s Philippine Independence Day celebration on June 04 in Markham City.
07 June 2017 TORONTO – Consul General Rosalita S. Prospero joined the Markham Federation of Filipino Canadians (MFFC) in their commemoration of the 119th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 04 in Markham City as they kicked off the celebration with a flag ceremony.
Provincial Minister of International Trade Michael Chan, Markham Councilor Alex Chiu, members of the City of Markham Council, Markham Fire Department, York Region Police and York Region and Catholic District School Boards, MFFC and other Filipino Canadian associations also attended the event.
After taking the lead in hoisting the Philippine flag in front of Markham Civic Centre, Consul General Prospero delivered a speech and acknowledged with appreciation MFFC’s collective effort of bringing together the growing number of Filipino Canadians in Markham, one of the fastest growing cities in the Greater Toronto Area. She expounded on this year’s theme of Philippine Independence Day celebrations, “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabagong Sama-samang Balikatin.” END.
