PHL Embassy Holds Diplomatic Reception in Budapest for the 119th Independence Day Celebration

19 June 2017 BUDAPEST – The Philippine Embassy in Budapest held a diplomatic reception to commemorate the 119th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence. The event was held at the Military History Institute and Museum and was attended by members of the diplomatic community, officials from the Hungarian government, guests from the private and business sectors, and members of the Filipino community.

Ambassador Maria Fe T. Pangilinan spoke of the growing relations between the Philippines and Hungary, noting the opening of the Hungarian embassy in Manila. She also talked about the rich diversity of the Philippines and its people and honored the sacrifices of overseas Filipinos.

The event also showcased the renowned musical talents and cuisine of the Philippines. Ms. Resciebelle Santiago, a finalist in the television show Romania’s Got Talent, serenaded the crowd with selected Filipino songs while guests were served Filipino food for dinner.

Prizes were also given to attendees via a raffle draw, which included Philippine handicrafts and food products, as well as Hungarian wine produced by a Filipino-owned company.
