23 June 2017 SINGAPORE — A Committee of Volunteers, also known as Lupon, and the Philippine Embassy in Singapore organized the “Pagdiriwang 2017” on June 18 at The SCAPE Singapore.

Pagdiriwang 2017 is a social or family event for the Filipino community which celebrates Philippine Independence Day.

The morning program featured keynote speeches by Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales, Pastor Rey Solano, Chairman of the Lupon and the Director General of TESDA Atty. Guiling Mamondiong.

Ambassador Morales and Pastor Solano expressed their gratitude to the volunteers, the Filipino community, and the sponsors who contributed to the success of the activity. Atty. Mamondiong, informed the members of the Filipino community about the training programs of TESDA for overseas Filipinos.

Pagdiriwang 2017 featured dance and song contests and a showcase of traditional outfits in the various Philippine regions worn by the winners of last year’s beauty pageants in Singapore.

The day’s event was highlighted by performances of invited ABS-CBN talents Vina Morales and deejay Jai Ho and concluded with performances by Singapore-based Filipino musical bands.
