PHL Embassy in Tehran Celebrates the 119th Anniversary of Philippine Independence

10 July 2017 TEHRAN — Filipinos from all over Iran joined the Philippine Embassy on June 30 to celebrate the 119th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence with the theme, “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabagong Sama-samang Balikatin.”

The celebration commenced with a flag-raising ceremony and recital of the pledge of allegiance to the Philippine flag. Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Wilfredo C. Santos delivered the opening remarks and warmly welcomed all those who came, especially those from far away provinces of Iran. In addition, Chargé d’ Affaires Santos mentioned the Philippines’ intention to tap the Iranian market with the forthcoming high-level visit of the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture with accompanying business delegation in the later part of this year.

The messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Hon. Alan Peter Cayetano were also read during the event by CDA Santos and Consul Alfredo Borlongan, respectively.

Cultural presentations from the members of the Filipino community of Iran also highlighted the celebration.
