Philippine Embassy in Brunei Celebrates 120th Anniversary of PH Independence

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 13 June 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin, and members of the Filipino community gathered for a flag-raising ceremony to make the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence at the Embassy grounds on 12 June 2018.
Chargé d’Affaires Delfin was assisted by Colonel Jose Ricky A. Laniog, Defense and Armed Forces Attaché, in hoisting the Philippine flag.
The Independence Day messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, and Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III were then read by Chargé d’Affaires Delfin, Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas, Defense Attaché Laniog, and Labor Attaché Melissa C. Mendizabal, respectively
In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Delfin also thanked the members of the Filipino community for their continued support and cooperation with the Embassy. In line with this year’s theme, “Kalayaan 2018: Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan,” he called on the Filipino community to unite for a collective commitment to sustain the positive outcomes of the meaningful reforms that had been undertaken and are currently being pursued by the Philippine government in bringing about inclusive and equitable economic growth for all Filipinos.
