PH Consulate General in LA Takes Part in Independence Day Festival in Carson City

LOS ANGELES 27 June 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles participated in the day-long observance of the Annual Philippine Independence Day Festival in the City of Carson, held at Veterans Park, Carson, California on 09 June 2018.
The whole-day celebration was organized by the Philippine Independence Day Foundation, Inc. (PDIF), in cooperation with the government of the Carson City and ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC) as media partner.
The packed day kicked off with the singing of Philippine and U.S. National Anthems, followed by the ceremonial parade and street dance, led by Carson City Mayor Albert Robles and Filipino-American Councilmember Elito Santarina, which was participated in by community organizations and associations from all across southern California, including the Consulate General’s delegation.
Thousands of people from Carson and elsewhere in the region enjoyed the non-stop, day-long event, with entertainment and activities featuring the richness and beauty of Filipino culture.
This year’s featured indigenous group Igorot dancers from the Benguet 13 Organization of California Inc., and Filipino celebrities Jona and Sam Milby made the event even more festive. END
