PH Consulate General in Manado, Indonesia Celebrates Independence Day

MANADO 03 July 2018 — The Philippine Consulate General in Manado, Indonesia held a ceremonial flag-raising to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence on 16 June 2018.

The event was participated in by Consulate General personnel who attended in Filipiniana attire, and members of the Filipino Community in Manado.

Consul General Oscar G. Orcine publicly read out before the Filipino Community the Independence Day message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, while a ranking member of the Consulate General read the Independence Day message of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano. The flag-raising was followed by a mass celebrated in the Consulate General premises.

After the mass, participants shared a traditional Filipino meal put together by generous Consulate personnel, and members of the Filipino Community.

Another highlight of the day is the ceremonial blessing of the Persons with Disability (PWD) ramp, which leads to the main entrance of the Consulate General. The inauguration of the PWD ramp anticipated the observance of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week in July. END
