DFA Tacloban Celebrates Independence Day at its New Consular Office

TACLOBAN 12 July 2018 — Consular Office (CO) Tacloban celebrated the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence at their newly-reopened office last 11 June 2018. The celebration was partaken by the whole CO personnel, who wore their finest barong and kimona that show their great pride in being a Filipino. (CO Tacloban photo)

The ceremony was opened by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by the recitation of the Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, singing of Pilipinas Kong Mahal, and singing of the ASEAN Anthem. The program was also attended by CO’s applicants, who were able to listen to the message of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano. (CO Tacloban photo)

A game followed the program, where applicants were asked about trivia questions about Philippine independence and the Philippine flag. Passport covers were given as prizes. The celebration also included a simple breakfast of traditional Filipino food enjoyed by the CO personnel. (CO Tacloban photo)
